About This Site

D65.org is maintained by
Scenic Labs

A free, independent educational resource about display calibration standards, bias lighting science, and color-accurate viewing environments. No advertising. No affiliate links. No agenda beyond accuracy.

Why we built this

Scenic Labs makes bias lighting products under the MediaLight brand. We noticed that the information environment around bias lighting was full of myths, marketing claims, and misunderstandings — including from competitors, reviewers, and even well-meaning enthusiasts.

D65.org exists to provide a clean, standards-based reference that anyone can use — whether or not they ever buy anything from us. The science of D65, chromatic adaptation, and calibrated viewing environments is well-established. It deserves a clear home on the web.

Editorial independence

D65.org is maintained separately from Scenic Labs' commercial operations. The content here is based on published standards from the CIE, ITU, ISO, SMPTE, and ISF — not on what benefits any product line. We do not accept advertising or run affiliate links. Product recommendations, if any, are based on technical merit against the D65 specification — and we apply the same standard to our own products as to anyone else's.

If you find an error, an outdated standard reference, or content that reads like marketing rather than education, please tell us.
